Celebrating U.S. National Black History Month

Kamala Harris, Vice President of the United States

In observance of U.S. National Black History Month, We are proud to announce the latest addition to our permanent art installation, “Celebrating Black History”! Please welcome the portrait of Madam Vice President Kamala Harris, our nation’s first Black and female Vice President.

Kamala was born in 1964, grew up in Southern California, and finished college in 1990 with an 8-year Doctorate in Law. She later became California’s Attorney General, before winning the seat of United States Senator, representing the state of California in Washington D.C.

Finally, on January 21st this year, Kamala was sworn into office as our new Vice President! Kamala Harris is a shining example for all our boys and girls- she shows us the great places we can go, with a little hard work, a good attitude, and dedication to your education! Alongside her portrait in the exhibit is a thought-provoking quote from our new VP;

“Anyone who claims to be a leader must speak like a leader. That means speaking with integrity and truth“.
